The New York Knicks cut their ties with 12-year veteran Jalen Rose today. The move has left New York one player below the 15 man roster maximum for the upcoming season.
After averaging 12.7 points per game on a club flooded with backcourt talent, the 6-foot-eight Rose was scheduled to make $16.9 million this season.
The move opens the door for Nate Robinson and Jamal Crawford to play a more pivotal role in the Knicks plans. Anchored by Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis the Knicks open their season on Wednesday at Memphis.
At 33-years-old Rose’s options are unclear. If a team were to pick him up it would more than likely mean Rose would have to take a substantial pay cut for his services as a guard/forward..
Jalen Rose was a member of the Fab Five at the University of Michigan that featured Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Ray Jackson and Jimmy King.
