Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe: Duel Intentions? Reese draws the line, splits from Ryan

After seven years of marriage and two children Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe have split. While divorce papers have not been filed, Witherspoon has signed on with divorce lawyer to the stars Robert Kaufman.

The Oscar-winning actress from Walk the Line had met Phillippe at her 21st birthday party. The 30-year-old Witherspoon married Phillippe, 32, shortly after and the two became a symbol of an idyllic Hollywood marriage. With their two children Ava and Deacon, the couple were often photographed as a family and appeared to take comfort in the public’s perception of their relationship.

Both Witherspoon and Phillippe’s reps reportedly said “We are saddened to announce that Reese & Ryan have decided to formally separate. They remain committed to their family and we ask that you please respect their privacy and the safety of their children at this time.”

The couple stared together in the movie Cruel Intentions in 1999.

Witherspoon’s movie career has take off with roles in blockbuster movies such as Legally Blonde, Sweet Home Alabama, Just Like Heaven, and Walk the Line.

Phillippe’s acting credits include Flags of Our Fathers, Crash, 54, and Gosford Park.
