Dwyane Wade, Shaquille O'Neal and the Miami Heat start their quest for another NBA Championship tonight as they square off against the Chicago Bulls. While the Heat did little this off season in terms of roster moves the Bulls were perhaps the most active.
The Bulls nabbed Four-Time Defensive Player of the Year Ben Wallace, traded for P.J. Brown, and acquired rookies Tyrus Thomas and Thabo Sefolosha. With Kirk Hinrich, Ben Gordon and Luol Deng returning the Bulls boast one of the youngest teams in the NBA with an average age of just over 25-years-old.
In comparison, the Heat’s roster is packed with veteran warriors Alonzo Mourning, Gary Payton, Shaquille O'Neal, Antoine Walker and Jason Williams. Their average age measures out to almost 28-years old.
Miami will be picking up their Championship rings prior to the 8:00 pm tip off.
The late game tonight will feature the Phoenix Suns taking on the Los Angeles Lakers in L.A.
Steve Nash, two-time Most Valuable Player, comes into his third year with the Phoenix Suns with high expectations. While it will actually be Nash’s fifth year with the Suns, he started his career in Phoenix, his past two years in Arizona’s capital have resulted in back-to-back- MVP Awards.
The Suns will be without Amare Stoudemire, who is still rehabbing after two knee surgeries. Phoenix will look to Boris Diaw, Raja Bell, Shawn Marion and Kurt Thomas to capture their first NBA title.
Kobe Bryant is questionable for tonight’s game after coming off of knee surgery. The reigning NBA scoring leader is looking for revenge against a Suns team that overcame a 3-1 playoff deficit and knocked the Lakers out of the first round.
Phoenix takes on L.A. at 10:30 pm EST tonight.
