Tiger Woods has announced he will participate in next week’s Buick Open in Michigan, setting the stage for the world’s number one golfer to play in three straight weeks on the PGA Tour.
Woods has twice won the Buick Open and has never finished worse than 11th in his eight years of playing the event held at Warwick Hills Golf Club in Grand Blanc.
The decision to play in the Buick Open comes as a surprise to some as Woods is also expected to play in the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational being held Aug. 6-9 which will be followed by the PGA Championship the following week. Woods hasn’t played in three straight events since 2007 and since his knee surgery in February he has played in back-to-back events just twice.
