Lance Armstrong to Quit Astana, Race for New Team Under RadioShack in 2010

Lance Armstrong has announced plans to end his racing days under the established Astana team and head up a new outfit known as Team RadioShack in 2010.

Armstrong is currently sitting in third place after Stage 18 in the Tour de France but he has little shot at winning his eighth title as his Astana teammate Alberto Contador sits atop the leaderboard with a significant lead.

Speaking about the move to the new team Armstrong said “To compete for an American team with the world's top cyclists, supported by the best coaches and staff, I couldn't be happier.”

While Armstrong will head up the Team RadioShack 2010 Tour de France bid he will also compete as a runner and triathlete for the team.
