Finland School Shooting Suspect Arrested

Authorities in Finland say they have arrested a man who carried out two separate shootings at an office building and school in Orivesi on Friday. There were no deaths in either shooting and only one person was wounded. Police have not identified the gunman or the wounded man.

The suspect, who is said to be in his 20s, opened fire at the office building with a hunting rifle, leaving one man with a gunshot wound to the hand. The gunman then went to the school and fired six shots into a classroom. "He fired several shots into the classroom through the door, but no one was hurt," said Detective Superintendent Jari Kinnunen.

The man was arrested at the scene and is being questioned by police. The motive for the shootings remains unclear.

The last school shooting in Finland occurred in 2008 at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences in Kauhajoki. Matti Juhani Saari, a 22-year-old student at the university, killed 9 students and 1 teacher before committing suicide.
