Knox County, IN- Two toddlers, a pregnant woman and two others are dead after the car they were traveling in became trapped under a semi-truck and burst into flames.
The crash killed 21 year-old Emma Lockard, who was pregnant, her one and two year-old children, and two of her 17 year-old cousins.
The accident occurred around 8:45 pm Wednesday, when Emma crossed from the southbound to the northbound lanes of U.S. 41 and drove under the trailer of a semi-truck. That triggered an explosion which soon engulfed the car and the trailer in flames. The fire was so hot police could not even determine what kind of car she was driving.
The truck driver was not injured and police gave him blood tests, which determined he was not intoxicated.
Police are unclear what cause Lockard to drive into the semi. They stated there were no skid marks indicating she tried to stop.
In some accidents it is easy to determine who or what caused the incident. An accident attorney can determine that one driver was responsible for a fatality or personal injury and can build a case to obtain compensation on behalf of the victims or their families.
Retaining an accident attorney will give victims the confidence that they will receive a favorable settlement. Your accident attorney is capable of trying a case in court or negotiating with an insurance company for maximum benefits.
