Fire kills six in Reno hotel, dozens injured

Police arrested a woman earlier today on charges of arson and murder for her involvement in a fire that consumed a Reno, Nevada hotel Tuesday night.

The woman arrested had been a guest at the Mizpah Hotel, located in the casino district, and reportedly set fire to a mattress in her room. Within minutes the building was engulfed and the 60 to 80 guests inside were scrambling for their lives. Many guests were forced to leap from windows to avoid the flames.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and found the bodies of six victims. There is still the possibility of more victims being discovered after the burnt out building is fully searched.

Police have yet to release the motive surrounding the 47-year-old woman’s decision to set the blaze.
