Orlando Magic 109 Chicago Bulls 94

One night after blowing out the Miami Heat, the Chicago Bulls got the same treatment from the Orlando Magic. Orlando led by 18 at the half and went on to win their opener 109-94. The Magic shot nearly 60 percent from the field and were 6-8 from beyond the three-point line as they cruised. Dwight Howard finished with 27 points and 11 rebounds, Grant Hill was 5-7 from the field for 19 points and Jameer Nelson added 21. Ben Gordon led the Bulls with 24 points.

Philadelphia 76ers 88 Atlanta Hawks 75         

Philadelphia jumped to a 21-4 lead in the first quarter and buried the Atlanta Hawks early in their 88-75 season opening win. The 76ers were led by Allen Iverson who poured in 32 points and totaled 6 assists. Chris Webber grabbed 13 rebounds for Philly. Joe Johnson paced the Hawks with 25 points but as a team they shot 26-78 from the field.

Indiana Pacers 106 Charlotte Bobcats 99 

The Pacers got 20 points from Jermaine O’Neil and Sarunas Jasikevicius as Indiana went into Charlotte and won 106-99. Al Harrington grabbed 9 rebounds in his return to the Pacers and Stephen Jackson added 18 points. Both Emeka Okafor and Sean May registered double-doubles for the Bobcats. Okafor had 19 points and 13 rebounds while May went for 10 and 10. Adam Morrison, playing in his first NBA game, had 14 points for Charlotte.

NO/Oklahoma City Hornets 91 Boston Celtics 87

Chris Paul had 20 points and 10 assists in the Hornets 91-87 road win over the Boston Celtics. Paul Pierce did everything he could to keep the Celtics close with his 29 points and 19 rebounds. It was the Celtics inability to make their three-point shots that prevented them from overtaking the Hornets. The Celtics finished 3-16 from three-point land.

New Jersey Nets 102 Toronto Raptors 92 

Vince Carter had 25 points and 11 rebounds against his for team while Jason Kidd recorded the season’s first triple-double with 14 points 10 assists and 10 rebounds as the New Jersey Nets handled the Toronto Raptors 102-92. Chris Bosh struggled for the Raptors finishing with 14 points on 5 of 13 shooting. Anthony Parker led all Raptors with 22 points.  

Cleveland Cavaliers 97 Washington Wizards 94 
 
Playing at home in their season opener, the Cleveland Cavaliers gave their fans plenty of excitement as they held on for a 97-94 win over the Washington Wizards. Larry Hughes led the Cavs with 27 points. LeBron James added 26 points and totaled 9 rebounds for Cleveland. Gilbert Arenas struggled from the field for the Wizards, finishing 2-12 from the field for 7 points.

Milwaukee Bucks 105 Detroit Pistons 97 

Michael Redd torched the Pistons for 37 points and Charlie Villanueva had 12 rebounds and 16 points as the Bucks went into Detroit and grabbed a 105-97 win. Richard Hamilton and Chauncey Billups had 25 points for the Pistons shooting a combined 14-27 while the rest of the team could only manage 17-45 from the field.

Minnesota Timberwolves 92 Sacramento Kings 83  

Kevin Garnett came out and played unselfish basketball to lead his Timberwolves to a 92-83 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Garnett finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds and went 10-10 from the line. The Wolves star played 41 minutes and went 7-9 from the field. Ron Artest had 16 points for Sacramento but shot a dismal 6-24 from the field. As a team, Sacramento shot just under 35 percent on the night.

NY Knicks 118 Memphis Grizzlies 117 (3 OT’s)

The Isiah Thomas era is under way in New York and his Knicks team did everything they could to make it memorable. Despite poor shooting performances from Jamal Crawford and Channing Frye the Knicks were able to ride the hot shooting of Quentin Richardson and solid ball distribution from Stephon Marbury to survive a triple overtime season opener and beat the Memphis Grizzlies 118-117. Memphis got strong games from Chucky Atkins, 25 points, and Hakim Warrick, 22 points and 12 rebounds. Rudy Gay made his NBA debut with 21 points in the Grizzlies loss.

Utah Jazz 107 Houston Rockets 97  

Carlos Boozer had a huge game for the Jazz scoring 24 points and totaled 19 rebounds as Utah jumped to an early lead and never let go beating the Houston Rockets 107-97. Tracy McGrady had 25 and Yao Ming added 22 points and 9 rebounds in the Rockets loss.

Portland Trailblazers 108 Seattle Supersonics 106  

Ime Udoka had 2 rebounds for the Portland Trailblazers and they both came on free throw misses in the final minute. The rebounds provided the Trailblazers the opportunity to take the lead and eventually beat the Seattle Supersonics 108-106. Zach Randolph had 28 points and 10 rebounds and Juan Dixon added 18 off the bench in the win. Rashard Lewis scored 25 points and Luke Ridnour added 13 assists and 22 points in the Seattle loss.

LA Lakers 110 Golden State Warriors 98
  
The L.A. Lakers captured their second win in two nights beating the Golden State Warriors 110-98. Lamar Odom had 22 points 9 rebounds and 9 assists in the Lakers win while Ronny Turiaf added 23 points for L.A. Troy Murphy had a double-double for the Warriors dropping 11 points and gathering 13 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns 112 LA Clippers 104

Rebounding from last nights loss to the Lakers, the Phoenix Suns took care of the L.A. Clippers 112-104. Shawn Marion had 27 points and 10 boards while Steve Nash added 20 points and 11 assists in the Suns win. Elton Brand led the Clippers with 28 points and 13 rebounds.
