Mark Cavendish captured his fifth stage of the Tour de France on Friday, winning the 111-mile Stage 19 trek from Bourgoin-Jallieu to Aubenas in 3 hours, 50 minutes, 35 seconds.
Cavendish finished with a large group which included seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong who remained in third place overall, managing to trim a few seconds off his deficit. Unfortunately for Armstrong that deficit appears to be insurmountable as his teammate, Alberto Contador, has a comfortable 4:11 lead over Andy Schleck of Luxembourg and Armstrong by 5:21.
Contador has one Tour de France victory under his belt and if he survives the gruelling ride from Montelimar up the famed Mont Ventoux he will almost certainly have his second. The Tour de France ends on Sunday.
