San Antonio shot nearly 50 percent from the field and had six players score in double figures as the Spurs ruined the Dallas Mavericks home opener. Tim Duncan had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Manu Ginobili added 16 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds in the Spurs win. Dirk Nowitzki finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Josh Howard led totaled 20 points.

L.A. Clippers 96 Denver Nuggets 95

Sam Cassell hit two free throws with 12 seconds left to give the Clippers a 96-95 win over the visiting Denver Nuggets. Tim Thomas scored 21 points off the bench, including three three-pointers late in the fourth to keep the Clippers from dropping their second game in two nights. Cassell finished with 35 points on the night. Carmelo Anthony was ejected in the third period after picking up his second technical foul of the game. He finished with 15 points. Marcus Camby grabbed 18 rebounds to go with his 16 points. The Nuggets out-rebounded the Clippers 56-38 but hit only 4 of 23 three-point shots.
