Australian fans that had been expecting U2 in March will finally get their chance to see the Irish icons on Monday. The band took an unexpected break from their Vertigo tour when their guitarist, the Edge, left to be with a sick relative.
Eight months later the foursome got on a plane and flew from Dublin to Sydney to pick up where they left off. Their first show will be in Brisbane on Monday night, they will be playing in Sydney four days later at Telstra Stadium- November 10, 11 and 13.
Bono took the eight month layoff to kick off his humanitarian project RED, which serves to raise awareness and funding for women and children suffering from HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Bono recently partnered with Oprah Winfrey to help market Apple’s RED iPod. Apple has agreed to contribute $10.00 from the sale of each RED iPod to The Global Fund, a project that is directly involved with bringing aid to African women and children who are suffering from HIV/AIDS.
