Baseball player Matt Bush hit with $5 million lawsuit after DUI accident

Sarasota, FL- Minor League baseball player Matt Bush has just been hit with a $5 million lawsuit from the man he injured during a DUI accident on March 22nd.

Bush, who has two previous DUI and no driver’s license, was intoxicated while he was behind the wheel of a borrowed SUV when he rear-ended a motorcycle, driven by Anthony Tufano, 72.

According to police, after striking the motorcyclist, Bush then ran over the man with his vehicle and drove off.

Tufano suffered 10 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a broken back and other injuries. His attorney is asking for a $5 million settlement, anticipating that Tufano will face excessive medical bills.

Bush was involved in a previous accident earlier in that day when he ran into a light pole at the State College campus; he fled this scene as well.

Police apprehended Bush an hour after hitting Tufano. A blood test taken three hours after the accident revealed that Bush had a blood alcohol level of 0.18, over twice the legal limit.

Sarasota drunk driving lawyer can question the results of a blood alcohol test, but Bush’s prior record will be held against him on court.

Intoxicated drivers face tough penalties, which in some instances can be mitigated with the assistance of a Sarasota drunk driving lawyer. Whether a person is facing their first, second, or third DUI they will benefit from the skills and experience of a Sarasota drunk driving lawyer when they have their day in court.
