Ambulance and truck crash injures three in Louisville

Louisville, KY- Three people were injured Thursday after an SUV crashed into an ambulance in the middle of a busy Louisville intersection.

The accident happened shortly after 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Bardstown Road and South Hurtsbourne. An EMS ambulance was traveling south on Hurtsbourne responding to call when it slowed down at Bardstown to see if it was clear. The ambulance proceeded through the intersection.

A Ford truck traveling eastbound on Bardstown Road and was in a turn lane when it collided with the ambulance. The impact of the crash pushed the truck onto its side. The driver was trapped inside and had to be extricated. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Two passengers in the ambulance were also injured and were taken to University Hospital.

A witness told WDRB news that accidents happen frequently at the intersection.
