Truck driver cited after colliding with school bus in Iowa

Police have issued a citation to the semi-truck driver who collided with a Saydel school bus on Friday.

The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday when the bus, carrying three people stopped at a railroad crossing on Northeast Broadway Avenue in Saydel. State law requires all school buses to stop for a railroad crossings. The semi-truck struck the rear of the bus pushing it over the train tracks. A pick-up truck then ran into the back of the semi.

Two people on the bus, an assistant teacher and a 16 year-old student had minor injuries. All other people involved in the accident were not injured.

The truck driver, Irfan Dervisevic, 39, of Louisville was cited for failure to stop in a sure and clear distance.
