U.S. Charges Seven on Terrorism Ties

Seven men from North Carolina have been charged with supporting terrorism and officials have arrested six of those charged who are now scheduled to appear in a federal court in Raleigh.

 

Among those arrested was Daniel Boyd, a 39-year-old American who trained in Afghanistan and took part in several battles between 1989 and 1992. According to U.S. officials when Boyd returned to the States he began recruiting others to fight overseas.

 

Boyd, along with the other six men, now face charges of supporting terrorism as well as conspiring to murder, kidnap, main and injure persons abroad.

 

Detailing the indictment the U.S. Department of Justice noted “Daniel Boyd is a veteran of terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Afghanistan who, over the past three years, has conspired with others in this country to recruit and help young men travel overseas in order to kill.”
