Otty Sanchez Decapitates Infant Son, Eats Brain

A San Antonio woman has been charged with murdering her 3 1/2 week old son and eating parts of his body. Otty Sanchez, 33, used a knife and two swords to decapitate her son Scott and eat parts of his body, including his brain, before stabbing herself in the torso and slicing her own throat.

Sanchez is charged with capital murder and is recovering from her wounds at a hospital. She is being held on $1 million bail.

The early Sunday morning attack came a week after the baby’s father moved out. Sanchez’s sister and her sister’s two children were in the house at the time of the attack.  

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus says Sanchez ate part of the baby’s brain, tore off his face and chewed off three of his toes. “It’s too heinous for me to describe it any further,” McManus said.

Sanchez’s sister had been helping care for the baby and turned him over to Sanchez around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. She woke three hours later and called police after discovering the infant’s body.

Sanchez’s aunt, Gloria Sanchez, says her niece has been “in and out” of a psychiatric ward. Police say Sanchez said the devil told her to kill her son.
