Head-on collision kills two in Maryland

Two people died late Monday night after a head-on collision in Davidsonville and police say driver error was the primary cause.

According to a press release by the Ann Arundel County Police, the accident occurred around 5:50 p.m. when the driver of a Honda lost control of her vehicle. Police said that Noell Banchero, 26, was traveling north on Davidsonville Road when she drifted off of the road. Banchero then tried to get her car back on the road and overcorrected, crossing the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic.

Banchero’s Honda hit another car, driven by Mary Elizabeth Corkill, 70, head-on. Police pronounced both women dead on the scene.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a part in the accident, but noted it was caused by driver error.

Driver error can be attributed to a majority of traffic accidents. Excessive speed, driver distraction, or inattention are the primary causes of deadly and injurious collisions. When people lose their lives or are seriously injured they will incur costs due to no fault of their own, but an accident attorney will make certain injury victims get the compensation they deserve.

Accident victims will have the best outcome from their injury or wrongful death case when they retain a highly skilled accident lawyer as soon as they are able. When an accident attorney is working on a case, the victims know they have someone fighting for their best interests.
