Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada. April 4th 2012 – Mica Heliskiing is proud of its safety record as one of the most popular boutique skiing locations in British Columbia. In order to maintain this high standard, however, Mica Heliskiing has put into motion a series of options and policies at a variety of levels.
Among these policies is Mica Heliskiing’s goal of hiring only experienced ski guides in addition to requiring professional training and certification. By hiring guides who have worked at other skiing locations around the world, Mica Heliskiing is able to draw on a wider base of knowledge and rely on the professional experience of its guides to solve any problems that may arise. Knowing that they are in some of the best hands in the business is one of the most appreciated parts of their trip for many of Mica Heliskiing’s guests.
However, potentially even more important than the guides is the machinery used for Heliskiing. Proper maintenance of equipment is of the utmost importance for a Heliskiing operation, and the A-Star helicopters used for most packages are maintained by full-time professionals who ensure that the aircraft always meet or exceed regulation standards. The Private program, however, takes it even further; the Bell 407 helicopters used for these flights are maintained daily to ensure constant peak performance.
While Mica Heliskiing does everything possible to ensure the safety of guests, Heliskiing is like many sports in that there is always a potential danger. Thus, before heading out, all guests are now required to take part in a safety briefing that covers the equipment Mica Heliskiing lends to guests, including communications gear and avalanche survival packs. This instruction, combined with the INFOEX daily information exchange, helps Mica educate guests about what they can expect to find on the mountains on any particular day.
With an emphasis on safety at every level, Mica Heliskiing’s new policies will help keep guests safe in the years to come.
Mica Heliskiing has worked hard to provide an unforgettable experience for their guests, whether they are on the slopes or in the lodge/chalet.
