Seal files counter claim to Heidi Klum’s divorce petition

New York, NY- Seal has filed a response to Heidi Klum’s divorce petition and it appears that he and his divorce attorney are geared up for a legal battle over the community assets and custody of the couple’s children.

According to the divorce documents obtained by TMZ, Seal is asking for joint physical custody of the children. Klum initially wanted primary physical custody with Seal being granted visitation rights.

Another area of contention will be the couple’s assets. Klum, who is worth an estimated $70 million, while Seal is worth only $15 million. In Klum’s divorce petition, she stated the couple had a post-nuptial agreement, meaning there are no joint or communal assets. But Seal’s petition made no mention of the post-nuptial and instead said the couple has “community and quasi-community assets.”

In both divorce petitions, Klum and Seal requested that the judge not award spousal support to one another.

This at first seemed like an amicable divorce but Seal’s response indicates that the couple’s divorce lawyers have a minor battle on their hands.

A divorce can end up turning into war when the couple begins to divide assets and decide on who gets primary custody of any children. These issues become areas of contention and the parties involved can rely on the expertise of a divorce attorney to help them reach a settlement agreement that will be more beneficial for their client.
