Timothy Tau’s Film KEYE LUKE Premieres at the 2012 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival

KEYE LUKE Premieres at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) on Sunday, May 13th, 2012 at 7PM, DGA

Timothy Tau’s film KEYE LUKE will premiere at the 2012 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) on Sunday, May 13th, 2012 at 7PM.  Tau made the film to honor the pioneering contributions of Mr. Luke and his generation (and its a preview/spec for a larger project Tau has in mind involving not just Keye Luke, but also Anna May Wong, Sessue Hayakawa and Philip Ahn).

The historical contributions of these predecessors were the main motivating factor and message behind this film, because these were actually the very first Asian American Actors.  Keye Luke was most known for being the original Kato in the 1940s Green Hornet serials, the All-American "Number One Son" in the Charlie Chan films and Detective James Lee Wong in "Phantom of Chinatown." He also was an Artist, married a Caucasian woman when it was illegal to do so, and appeared in over 100+ films and television shows, and provided voices for a number of cartoons.

The film stars, in order of appearance: Feodor Chin (Baby, Golden Boy, Spice It Up!) as Keye Luke; Archie Kao (CSI, Snow Flower and The Secret Fan, The People I've Slept With) as Edwin Luke, his brother; Kelvin Han Yee (Hawaii Five-0, Milk, Nash Bridges, Wedding Palace) as Lee Luke, his father; Jolene Kim (24, Grey's Anatomy) as Suzanna Kim, Britt Prentice (LMFAO's "Sorry for Party Rocking" Music Video, Wizards of Waverly Place) as Warner Oland, Burl Moseley (24, Monk, Brothers & Sisters, The Defenders) as Mantan Moreland, Robert Factor (L.A. Law) as Sidney Toler, Becky Wu (Desperate Housewives, Greek, K-Town Cowboys) as Florence Ung, Hedy Wong (Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" Music Video) as Frances Chan, Jennifer Chang (Parenthood, Medium, NCIS:LA) as Iris Wong, James Huang (Lost, Rizzoli & Isles) as Victor Sen Yung, David Huynh (Bang Bang, Baby, Without A Trace, Cold Case) as Benson Fong, Elaine Kao (Bridesmaids, NCIS:LA, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm) as Marianne Quon, Cyndee San Luis (He's Mine Not Yours, I Think My Facebook Friend Is Dead, The Case) as Lenore "Casey" Case, Chris Cusano (The Apartment, Chinatown Squad) as Gordon Jones/Britt Reid/The Green Hornet, Elizabeth Sandy (Parks & Recreation, The Scenesters, The Young and The Restless) as Ethel Davis Luke, Mei Melancon (Psylocke from X-Men: The Last Stand, The L Word, Irreversi, Pathology, Rush Hour 2) as Lotus Long, Jennifer Field (Robot Chicken, K-Town Reality Show) as Doctor Raymond, Jessika Van (Bang Bang, The Boondocks, A.N.T. Farm, Without A Trace) as Victoria Horne/Nabura, Narisa Suzuki (The Myth of the American Sleepover, Ecstasy of Gold) as Takahari, Chadd Stoops (Surrogate Valentine, Daylight Savings) as Lloyd Bridges/Secret Agent X-9 and Ina-Alice Kopp (Klimt, Departed Heroes) as Jan Wiley/Agent Lynn Moore.

The film is also a Visual Communications "Armed With A Camera" Fellowship film, of which both Daniel Hsia ('03) (Director of "Shanghai Calling" Opening Night Film at this year's LAAPFF) and Ernesto Forondoa ('02, founding class) (Writer of "Better Luck Tomorrow" and Director of "Sunset Stories" - also screening at this year's LAAPFF) were graduates of as well.
