The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has confirmed the girlfriend of John Clark Gable was found dead Wednesday morning in the couple’s Malibu home. Gable, the only son of legendary Gone With The Wind star Clark Gable, discovered Christiane Candice Lange unresponsive in their bed around 9:40 a.m. and called 911. Lange, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of death is unclear and is under investigation. Although coroner spokesman Ed Winter said foul play is not suspected, homicide detectives were called to the scene.
“It could be a natural [cause of death],” Winter told City News. “It was reported as possible prescriptions. She takes a couple of meds. It may have been a heart attack. There is no indication of foul play or obvious trauma.”
Gable, 52, has not commented. He never knew his father as he was born four months after the actor died of a heart attack at the age of 59.
