Jim Johnson, a former defensive coordinator for the
Philadelphia Eagles, has died. Johnson died Tuesday afternoon after a long
battle with cancer. He was 68.
Johnson played 2 seasons in the NFL before beginning his
22-year NFL coaching career. He coached the Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis
Colts, Seattle Seahawks and the Eagles.
Johnson was widely regarded as one of the best defensive coordinators
in the NFL. He took an indefinite leave of absence in May 2009 to battle melanoma,
a form of skin cancer that had traveled to his spine.
Johnson is survived by his wife, Vicky, their two
