3 Arrested In Brazil For Eating Women, Selling Pies Made With Human Flesh

Three people have been arrested in northeast Brazil for murder and cannibalism. Authorities say Jorge Beltrao Negroponte, his wife, Cristina da Silveira, and his mistress, Bruna da Silva, confessed to murdering at least two women and eating their remains. The trio also made meat pies out of the women’s flesh and sold them to residents of their town, Garanhuns.

Police spokesman Democrito Honorato said Negroponte, Silveira and Silva claimed their goal was to reduce the population and “purify” the souls of their victims. “The details of the actions of the trio, with drawings and explanations of cannibalism, were found in a 50-page book written by Da Silveira, a man with a diploma in education and a black belt in karate," Honorato said.

The remains of two women were found buried in the defendants’ backyard. The bodies are believed to be those of 20-year-old Alexandra Falcao and 30-year-old Gisele da Silva. Police say there could be more than 10 victims linked to the case. A 5-year-old girl found living with the suspects is believed to be the daughter of a woman who disappeared in 2008.

Authorities uncovered the horrific crimes after Negroponte, Silveira and Silva attempted to use a credit card that belonged to a missing woman.
