Authorities in southern Mexico say over three dozen people died early Friday morning in a bad accident involving a bus and a tractor trailer. The accident occurred just outside the town of Alamo in the Veracruz state. Authorities say it appears the truck’s trailer became unhooked and hit the tour bus, which was carrying farm workers to the state of Coahuila.
Forty-three bus passengers died in the accident and eighteen other were injured. The driver of the truck fled the scene of the accident, according to a Veracruz government spokesperson.
No other details on the crash were immediately available. Police are still searching for the truck driver.
