Massachusetts police have arrested a woman identified as
Julie Corey for the murder of Darlene Haynes and the cutting from the woman’s
unborn child from her womb. Police had been searching for the infant since Monday when
Haynes, who was 8 months pregnant, was found dead in a closet in her Worcester
apartment. The 23-year-old had been dead for several days before she was found.
Haynes’ body was wrapped in a bed sheet and her fetus had
been ripped from her womb. Officers arrested Corey, a friend of Haynes, in Plymouth,
New Hampshire after receiving tips from women who became suspicious when Corey
turned up with an infant girl around the time Haynes went missing.
Corey, 35, had moved to Plymouth with the baby and her
boyfriend. Worcester police say the infant was in fairly good health and was
taken to a hospital. Corey is charged with being a fugitive from justice.
