NBA scores and highlights from Friday night

Al Harrington had 32 points and 8 rebounds while Danny Granger added 18 points and the Indiana Pacers (4-2) won at home, beating the Orlando Magic (3-3) 93-83. Jameer Nelson led the Magic with 19 points and Dwight Howard contributed 17 points and 14 rebounds. The Pacers won despite shooting just 39.2 percent from the field.

The Denver Nuggets (1-3) got 31 points from Carmelo Anthony and beat the Philadelphia 76ers (3-3) 108-101 for their first win of the year. Marcus Camby had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Nuggets and Andre Miller dished out 9 assists to go with his 18 points. Allen Iverson shot just 6-20 from the field for 21 points while totaling 9 assists. Kyle Korver led all 76ers with 23 points on the night.

The Washington Wizards (3-2) scored 40 points in the fourth quarter to overcome a nine point deficit and went on to beat the Milwaukee Bucks (2-4) 116-111. Gilbert Arenas had 29 points and 11 assists while Antawn Jamison put down 24 points and 8 rebounds for the Wizards. Michael Redd led the Bucks with 28 points.

The Atlanta Hawks (4-1) won their fourth game in a row after handling the Toronto Raptors (2-3) 111-102. Joe Johnson scored 34 points and had 8 rebounds for the Hawks and Josh Smith set a career high with 29 points while grabbing 7 rebounds. Toronto was once again led by Chris Bosh who had 19 points and 17 rebounds.

After trailing by four at halftime the Seattle Supersonics (2-4) outscored the Charlotte Bobcats (1-4) by 18 points and won easily 99-85. Ray Allen had 26 points and the Sonics got 10 points and 15 rebounds from Nick Collison coming off the bench. Emeka Okafor led the Bobcats with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Getting his first NBA start, Adam Morrison struggled, going 3-12 from the field for 9 points.

The Boston Celtics (1-4) continued their dismal start to the season, falling 107-100 against the Utah Jazz (5-1). The Jazz got double-doubles from Carlos Boozer, 24 points 14 rebounds, and Deron Williams, 26 points 14 assists, in the win. Paul Pierce led all scorers with 30 points.

It was the Dwyane Wade show in New Jersey as the Heat star scolded the Nets (2-2) for 34 points and 10 assists as Miami won 113-106. Udonis Haslem had a big game for the Heat with 28 points and 9 rebounds while Shaquille O’Neil added 13 points and 6 rebounds. New Jersey led by 10 after the first quarter but once the Heat offense clicked there was nothing the Nets could do to stop them. Vince Carter had 33 points and Jason Kidd put up 12 points 9 rebounds and 9 assists in the loss.

Yao Ming dominated New York (2-4) in every area of the game, bucketing 35 points, grabbing 17 rebounds and blocking 7 shots as the Houston Rockets (4-2) cruised past the Knicks 103-94. As a team, the Rockets shot just under r55 percent from the field and hit 11-26 three pointers. The Knicks wee led by Stephon Marbury’s 22 points.
 
The Portland Trail Blazers (4-2) overcame a 27 point deficit and shocked the NO/Oklahoma City Hornets (4-2) 92-91. Zach Randolph hit the go-ahead free throw with 2.4 seconds remaining to cap the comeback. Randolph finished with 31 points and 12 rebounds and Travis Outlaw added 16 points for Portland. The Hornets had built a 38-13 lead after one period but let that slip away, falling for the second consecutive night. David West had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Hornets.

The Detroit Pistons (3-3) smothered Los Angeles (4-3) with a blanket defense and out-rebounded the Lakers 49-32 as they went on to win 97-83. Tayshaun Prince had 31 points for the Pistons and Chauncey Billups added 21 points to go with his 9 assists. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 19 points.
