Bay Area’s Looking Glass Photo, Celebrates Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day with Photography Workshop

Looking Glass Photo, where photography and community click in the Bay Area, is hosting a photography workshop in celebration of Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day this April.

Bay Area’s digital printing and camera equipment store, Looking Glass Photo, is hosting a photography workshop on April 29 in celebration of Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day.

"April means longer days, sunshine and Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day!" Jen Waicukauski of Looking Glass Photo said. "We're super-duper excited to be hosting another workshop, and we're hoping you can attend. If you've ever been to one of our Pinhole Day events before, you know how awesome it can be: we all make cameras together, walk around shooting pinhole photos in the sunshine, then develop them in the Looking Glass darkroom. After that they get uploaded to the WPPD website."

Interested participants can bring their own camera and/or make a new pinhole camera with Looking Glass Photo. Looking Glass Photo does ask those who choose the latter option to bring their own light-tight container to convert into a camera. Looking Glass Photo will provide the tape and drills, brass shim (for pinholes), paint, photo paper, chemistry and any other necessary paraphernalia, as well as personalized instruction every step of the way. The workshop costs $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

The workshop and celebration will take place on April 29 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., but participants may show up anytime during the five-hour window and participate for as long, or as short, as they want. Looking Glass Photo recommends at least an hour to build a camera and create an image.

"You can put your name on the signup list next time you're in the store, but even if you can't come in to sign up, please call us as soon as possible to get your name on the list so that we can be prepared with enough materials for everyone,” Waicukauski said. “You can pay over the phone or when you get here on April 29."
