Drug Rehab Expands Its Relapse Prevention Program

With many factors contributing to stress in this country, Regarding the economy, and other stressors, Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center in Connecticut has recently expanded its aftercare program to include relapse prevention to non-former clients. With recent reports from the current White House Administration stating that the demand for drugs in this country needs to be reduced by providing effective Drug rehabilitation programs, Mountainside has stepped up to the plate by introducing this component to our program as well as providing this service to people outside of Mountainsides normal treatment scope.

Recent reports from the Mexican/American border have noted an increase in the activity from the Mexican drug cartels. These groups which have been operating for decades, got their start as a conduit for Columbian drug cartels to smuggle cocaine in to the United States and have recently seen an opportunity in the drug Crystal Meth. The groups which had previously been dependant on the Columbian cartels have now branched off on their own by smuggling Meth that they have produced across the border. These same groups are also smuggling the chemicals used to make this drug in to the U.S., providing clandestine meth labs in this country with the means to make and distribute this dangerous substance. These activities have gotten the attention of President Barack Obama who has stated that efforts between Mexican and American officials around the border will be increased but that the issue of addiction needs to be addressed in order to reduce the demand for this and other drugs.

There have been concerns raised recently that crystal meth if allowed to go unchecked could wind up a drug epidemic not unlike the Crack Cocaine epidemic in the 1980’s. With its potency, meth has similar effects on the body as cocaine but longer lasting and cheaper. These are the factors that have many worried. Relapse prevention is just a small piece of the Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment program offered at Mountainside.
