After Hours - Motorola Inc. MOT, Motorola handset declines by 45% in second quarter
Motorola Inc.
There was a continued slide in results in Q2 revenues, Motorola reported. It was tumbling to USD 5.5 billion as compared to USD 8.1 billion in the same period of last year. Operating profit edged up to USD 10 million from USD 5 million, and net profit improved to USD 26 million from USD 4 million, helped by investment gains and a legal settlement.

Earnings from succeeding operations were USD 0.01 per share, including 2 cents from the one-time gains, and the company forecast a Q3 result between a loss of 1 cent and profit of 1 cent. The mobile devices division reported sales decline by 45 percent year-on-year to USD 1.8 billion.
