Dr. Deena Manion, PsyD, LCSW, Clinical Director of Creative Care,
attended the Professional Development Summit hosted by the Betty Ford Center
and RecoveryView.com at the Annenberg Community Beach House on April 5.
Approximately 150 attendees heard keynote addresses by prolific addiction
author Claudia Black and Dr. Harry L.
Haroutunian of the Betty
Ford Center.
“It’s really
useful to exchange ideas with so many practitioners and interventionists,” Dr.
Manion said. She has been with Creative Care since 1999, and has extensive
training in dual diagnosis and family therapy. Creative Care utilizes
innovative approaches to treatment of addictions and disorders, including
equine therapy, expressive arts therapy, and Native American spiritual
practices.
Creative Care
staff members will be participating in a number of professional events in the
coming months. In May, they will attend the National Association of Addiction Treatment
Providers conference in Phoenix, Arizona. The Gratitude for Giving Sierra
Tucson breakfast in Los Angeles will take place in June, and the New Directions
for Women conference will be held in Santa Barbara in July, where Creative Care
staff member Curtis Washington will be presenting. In addition, Dr. Khaleghi, the founder and Executive
Director of Creative Care, presents a radio show, “Call in Sick,” twice a month
on KABC.
