NFL Scores week 10
The Houston Texans (3-6) went into Jacksonville (5-4) and stunned the Jaguars 13-10. Houston had a 15 minute advantage in time of possession and won the turnover battle with four takeaways while they committed no turnovers of their own. David Carr threw for 167 yards for the Texans but the story of the game was four interceptions thrown by Jacksonville’s quarterback, David Garrard.
The New York Jets (5-4) ended their seven game losing streak to New England (6-3) and the Patriots lost for the second consecutive week, falling 17-14 at Gillette Stadium. Chad Pennington threw for 168 yards and a touchdown and Kevan Barlow ran for 75 yards and a touchdown for the Jets. Tom Brady threw for 255 yards and a touchdown and was picked off once. New England turned the ball over twice in a game that was played in pouring rain.
Donovan McNabb looked comfortable as he torched Washington (3-6) with 222 passing yards and one touchdown as the Philadelphia Eagles (5-4) handed the Redskins a 27-3 beating. McNabb connected with Donte' Stallworth for an 84-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter. Stallworth ended the day with six receptions for 139 yards. Brian Westbrook rushed for 113 yards to provide the balance for the Eagles offense.
The Miami Dolphins (3-6) pulled off their second upset in as many weeks after beating the Kansas City Chiefs (5-4) 13-10. Joey Harrington completed 19/35 passes for 201 yards and Ronnie Brown rushed for 89 yards as Miami showed no signs of letting down after their pounding of Chicago a week ago. Larry Johnson rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown in the loss for the Chiefs.
Brett Favre lit up the sky with 347 passing yards and two touchdowns as the Green Bay Packers (4-5) won for the fourth time in five games, beating Minnesota (4-5) 23-17. Donald Driver had six receptions for 191 yards and a touchdown. Brad Johnson threw for 257 yards in the Vikings loss.
The Baltimore Ravens (7-2) came back from a 26-7 deficit and beat the Tennessee Titans (2-7) 27-26. Steve McNair threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns for the Ravens. Mark Clayton caught seven of McNair’s completions for 125 yards and a touchdown. Vince Young played the entire game for Tennessee, throwing for 211 yards and an interception.
The Indianapolis Colts (9-0) became the first team in NFL history to start two consecutive seasons with a 9-0 record. They certainly didn’t make it look easy, but they did enough to beat the Buffalo Bills (3-6) 17-16. Peyton Manning threw for 236 yards and a touchdown while Joseph Addai rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown for the Colts. Anthony Thomas rushed for 109 yards in a losing effort for the Bills.
If you were betting the under in this game you lost your money somewhere in the third quarter. The Cincinnati Bengals (4-5) led by 21 points but let it slip away as the San Diego Chargers (7-2) fought their way back and won 49-41. Philip Rivers threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns and Ladanian Tomlinson rushed for rushed for 104 yards and four touchdowns as the Bolts shocked the Bengals. Carson Palmer had a huge game of his own, throwing for 440 yards and three touchdowns while Chad Johnson caught 11 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns.
San Francisco (4-5) won on the road for the first time this year as they held the Detroit Lions (2-7) to just 71 yards on the ground and won 19-13. The 49ers took advantage of four Detroit turnovers and fed the ball to Frank Gore who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown. San Francisco had the ball for 17 more minutes than the Lions.
Atlanta (5-4) continued to find ways to lose, this time turnovers did the Falcons in against the Cleveland Browns (3-6) 17-13. Michael Vick threw two interceptions and a costly fumble as the Falcons lost their second game in a row. Despite having the NFL’s most lethal rushing attack, Vick threw the ball 40 times in the loss. Charlie Frye threw for 165 yards and a touchdown for the Browns.
The Oakland Raiders (2-7) held the Denver Broncos (7-2) to just 63 yards on the ground and picked of Jake Plummer three times and still lost 17-13. Part of the reason was because the Raiders were held to 43 yards on the ground. Jake Plummer did manage to throw for 210 yards and two touchdowns.
Josh Brown kicked a 38-yard field goal with 9 seconds left and the Seattle Seahawks (6-3) snuck by the St. Louis Rams (4-5) 24-22. Seneca Wallace continued to fill in at QB for Seattle and he threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Maurice Morris rushed for 124 yards for Seattle and Darrell Jackson had 5 receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown. Steven Jackson rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown for the Rams.
Tony Romo continues to get comfortable taking the snaps for Dallas (5-4) as he threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns and the Cowboys cruised past the Arizona Cardinals (1-8) 27-10. Terrell Owens had 5 receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown for the Cowboys. Matt Leinart threw for 216 yards but had two interceptions.
Pittsburgh (3-6) jumped to a 14-0 lead and had to fight back to beat the New Orleans Saints (6-3) 38-31. Willie Parker rushed for 211 yards on the ground for Pittsburgh and found the end zone twice. Ben Roethlisberger continued to regain his form and threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns. Drew Breese had a big game for the Saints, throwing for 398 yards and one touchdown.
