Authorities say the accident happened at 9:40 a.m. on Highway 285 near Albrittons Rd. in Kinston. A tractor-trailer, a moving truck, was driving along the roadway when the driver had to stop because of construction on a nearby bridge. A second tractor-trailer, carrying building supplies, then slammed into the rear of the first truck.
The second truck erupted into a blaze. A witness on the scene tried to get the driver out of the truck, but the flames flared up almost immediately. He died on the scene.
The driver of the moving truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
It took officials almost 10 hours to clean up the wreckage and spilt fuel.
Major collisions between large commercial trucks can lead to serious injuries and in some instances death. The people injured in an accident are often faced with hospital stays and long recovery times. During this time they not only lose wages, but will accumulate expensive medical bills. A truck accident attorney can fight to make certain these injury victims don’t have to cover their medical bills themselves.
Anyone injured in a collision should immediately contact a truck accident lawyer to begin gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses in order to build a strong case. The representation of a practiced truck accident attorney assures the injured will receive a favorable settlement.
