Bobby Brown Sentenced To Probation, Alcohol Treatment In DUI Case

Bobby Brown avoided major jail time in his DUI case Wednesday, receiving only 1 day in jail, probation, a small fine, and a mandatory rehab stint. The 43-year-old did not appear in court. His no contest plea was entered by his lawyer, Tiffany Feder.

Prosecutors confirm Brown must serve 3 years of probation and pay a $390 fine. He must also complete a 90 day alcohol treatment program. Brown already served his jail time.

Brown, the ex-husband of the late Whitney Houston, was arrested on March 26 in San Fernando Valley, California after being stopped for talking on his cell phone while driving. He showed signs of intoxication and failed a field sobriety test.

Two days after his arrest Brown released a statement through Feder. "Everyone is innocent until proven guilty and Mr. Brown was not driving erratically. He was speaking on his cell phone. Mr. Brown has not been convicted of anything associated with this incident," Feder said. "Mr. Brown is taking this matter seriously and an investigation is under way. The legal process shall run its course.”

Brown has not commented on his sentence.
