Football star Deion Sanders was charged with misdemeanor assault one day after his estranged wife Pillar attacked him in their home.
The couple and their divorce attorneys are enmeshed in a contentious battle that came to head this week when Pilar allegedly attacked Deion in front of their sons. While Deion asserts he did not hurt, Pilar she could be seen leaving jail Tuesday, a day after her arrest, with a broken thumb and a cut lip.
Just days before the incident, Pilar attempted to get a restraining order against Deion, but was discouraged by Prosper Police because of his notoriety.
After police took Pilar in custody, they then charged Deion with misdemeanor assault that did not warrant an arrest. The charge covers any act that is considered aggressive such as pulling away or touching and carries a fine of $500.
Deion was able to get a protective order against his wife barring her from the family home for 60 days and from threatening or harassing him or any family members.
