Sunday Night Football: Chicago Bears vs. NY Giants
Just call the Chicago Bears the best team in the NFC -- and the New York Giants red-faced for falling asleep on a record-tying 108-yard missed field goal return by Devin Hester.
Rex Grossman threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns and Thomas Jones rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown as the Chicago Bears took advantage of the New York Giants turnovers and mental errors to win 38-20.
Muhsin Muhammad had seven receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown and Mark Bradley caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Grossman to balance the attack for the Bears.
With the score 24-20 Jay Feely lined up for a 52-yard field goal attempt to cut the lead to one. His kick fell short of the goalpost and was caught by Devin Hester. Hester appeared as if he would just take a knee but he spotted a seam and then broke down the sideline for an NFL record-tying a 108-yard touchdown.
Once the Bears pushed the lead to 31-20 the Giants seemed to deflate.
Eli Manning completed just 14 of 32 passes for 121 yards and he was picked off twice. The lone bright spot for the Giants was Tiki Barber, who finished with 141 yards rushing.
