Another contestant’s dream of becoming the next American Idol ended last night with an elimination that determined the final 5. Elise Testone, 28, turned out to have the least amount of fan votes, which was not surprising given her previous six turns in the bottom three. She was joined in the bottom three last night by Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine.
Testone’s rendition of Queen’s “I Want It All” on Wednesday night received positives reviews all around. Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson all agreed it was a good song choice and a solid performance. Tyler, Lopez and Jackson gave her mixed reviews on her performance of Jimi Hendrix’s “Bold as Love.” Lopez loved it while Jackson and Tyler felt Testone would have been better off with a different song choice.
"American Idol means living out my dreams. My favorite part about my journey is my connections with the other contestants. These are people I may have never met, but I'm so glad I did,” the South Carolina vocal coach said after her elimination.
"I feel like my brain is wired to accept everything that happens, so as soon as they said my name…I accepted it immediately," she told Us Weekly after the show.
In addition to Cavanagh and Laine, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez make up the final five.
