Pakistan: Family Of Osama Bin Laden Deported

Less than a week away from the one year anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s death, over a dozen members of the al Qaeda leader’s family have been deported from Pakistan. Pakistani authorities say fourteen members of the bin Laden family were taken by private plane to Saudi Arabia early Friday morning. The group included bin Laden’s three widows, who have been identified as Amal Ahmed Abdul Fateh, Khairiah Sabar and Siham Sabar, and two older daughters.

"The family was kept safe and sound in a guest house. They have been deported to the country of their choice, Saudi Arabia, today,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Bin Laden’s family was detained after United States Navy SEALS killed him in a raid on a compound in Abbottabad on May 2, 2011. His wives and two daughters were sentenced last month to 45 days of house arrest after confessing to illegally entering and living in Pakistan.

Officials in Saudi Arabia have not commented on the bin Laden family’s arrival.
