Detroit Tigers Add Jarrod Washburn to Rotation Following Deal with Seattle Mariners

The Detroit Tigers made a major move to hold on to the top spot in the American League Central on Friday, acquiring left-handed pitcher Jarrod Washburn from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for a pair of pitchers.

Washburn, 34, had been one of Seattle’s most effective pitchers, compiling an 8-6 mark while posting a 2.64 ERA in 20 starts and over his last 36 2/3 innings he has allowed just three earned runs.

Seattle managed to deal the veteran starter for two left-handed pitcher, Luke French and Mauricio Robles. French, 23, started five games for the Tigers going 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA while Robles, 20, has spent much of the year at Class A Lakeland in the Florida State League.
