Alabama tax preparers charged with fraud

Bruce King who runs a tax preparation business in Montgomery has been charged with numerous counts of fraud. Five employees are also facing counts of wire fraud for their participation in a tax fraud scheme.

According to the indictment, King owned and operated Premier Tax has offices in Montgomery, Alabama and in Georgia. From 2007 to 2010, King taught his employees how to falsify tax forms in order to inflate the tax refund. King and his employees are also accused of using people’s names and social security number without their knowledge.

This could cause problems with the IRS, forcing clients to retain an Alabama tax attorney to resolve any tax debt issues.

King, along with employees Jenika Williams, Antoinette Djonret, Nakesha Donaldson, Angela Smith and Vonecia Orum have been charged with multiple counts of wire fraud and identity theft. If convicted they face up to five years in prison for each count of fraud and up to two year per count of aggravated identity theft.

Problems with the IRS can lead to big headaches. A person may face an audit and exorbitant penalties and fines. The IRS will pursue a taxpayer aggressively and they could eventually have their wages or bank accounts garnished. Once this happens the taxpayer will need to hire a tax attorney to work out a payment plan with the IRS before the garnishment can be taken off their paychecks.

Though people are attracted to tax preparation services because of the low cost, this case illustrates the importance of hiring an experienced Alabama tax lawyer to help prepare yearly tax forms.

No matter what your issue is a tax lawyer can help, whether it is negotiating with the IRS, setting up the right business structure or preparing quarterly or yearly tax forms. With their help the taxpayer can avoid audits and aggressive collections.
