NCAA Men’s Basketball: Coachs' Poll
Florida remained number one in the Coachs' Poll after dismantling Samford on Friday 79-54. Joakim Noah had a double-double in the game, going for 11 points and 15 rebounds while Corey Brewer dropped 19 points for the Gators. Florida will be playing North Florida tomorrow night (11-14).
The North Carolina Tar Heels held on to the number two spot and will open their season tomorrow night against Sacred Heart. With All American forward Tyler Hansbrough and a sensational freshman class that includes Wayne Ellington, Ty Lawson and Brandan Wright the Tar Heels don’t look to slip any time soon.
Kansas blew out Northern Arizona on Saturday 91-57 and kept their number three ranking in the Coachs' Poll. Brandon Rush had 21 points for the Jayhawks and the team shot 54 percent from the field. Kansas has Oral Roberts up next on Tuesday night.
Ohio State finished their run through the BCA Classic with a win over Kent State 81-59. The victory improved the Buckeyes’ record to 3-0 on the year and allowed them to hold on at number four. Othello Hunter had 13 points and 8 rebounds in Ohio State’s victory over Kent State. Ohio State will play Eastern Kentucky on Friday.
The Pittsburgh Panthers took care of business on Sunday with an 86-67 win over Western Michigan. Mike Cook led all Panthers with 17 points while Aaron Gray managed to contribute a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Pittsburgh will be playing Delaware State on Tuesday night.
