Orlando (5-3) won for the fourth time in five games as they handled the Boston Celtics (1-6) 92-89. The Magic got 24 points from Jameer Nelson and Dwight Howard had 17 points and 15 rebounds. Orlando shot 54 percent from the field as the Celtics could only manage 38 percent shooting. Paul Pierce struggled from the floor shooting 6-20 to finish with 21 points.
 
The New Jersey Nets (3-3) buried themselves early and despite a furious rally they could not get past the Seattle Supersonics (4-4), falling 119-113. It was the third straight win for Seattle who took a 35-17 first quarter lead and held on as New Jersey tried to claw its way back. The Supersonics had four players with over 20 points, Luke Ridnour, 32, Rashard Lewis, 27, Ray Allen, 22, and Chris Wilcox, 22. Vince Carter had 38 points for the Nets while Jason Kidd had 20 points 12 assists and 6 rebounds.

The New York Knicks (2-6) remained winless at home after falling 102-96 to the Cleveland Cavaliers (5-2). LeBron James and Damon Jones finished with 29 points for the Cavs and Drew Gooden grabbed 11 rebounds. The Knicks had six players in double figures, led by Nate Robinson’s 19 points. The Cavaliers buried the Knicks with three point shooting, going 10-21 from beyond the arch.
