Arizona-based Golf International settles sexual harassment lawsuit

Golf International, a golf course and restaurant settled a sexual harassment lawsuit with a former male employee after they fired him for reporting incidents of harassment against female co-workers.

Just one day after Jeffery White reported that several female employees were being sexually harassed by the restaurants head chef, Golf International fired him. Shortly after White filed a complaint with the Equal employment Opportunity Commission, Golf International offered to rehire if he dropped his lawsuit.  He was hired back but was fired several weeks later, according the suit filed by the EEOC.

Retaliation and harassment are forbidden in the workplace. When an Arizona sexual harassment attorney is able to prove these actions occurred, the victims may be entitled to financial compensation.

Golf international will pay $25,000 to White and will be required to develop a workplace discrimination and retaliation training program for its employees. The company will also have to post notices in the workplace explaining an employee’s rights to be free of discrimination and retaliation.

Sexual harassment can create a hostile working environment that affects all employees. When a person is faced with retaliation they will be reluctant to report harassment, allowing the situation to escalate. Employees who are subjected to this type of misconduct often turn to sexual harassment lawyers to help put an end to the abuses they endure.

Victims of harassment are able to hire an Arizona sexual harassment attorney to seek compensation for their emotional suffering and any lost wages.
