Ecommerce and legal internet marketing are rapidly growing industries and in the past experts on the field have been largely self-taught, since most colleges and universities have been slow the meet the educational needs of this exploding industry. But now students in Arkansas have the opportunity to get a four year degree in ecommerce.
The University of Arkansas announced the degree program and will cover a range of ecommerce subjects such as legal internet marketing, social media marketing and web design to meet the demand of employers. This new degree program will give students the education they need to find a job in the billion dollar industry.
Elizabeth Pierce the chair of the University’s Information Science program says the program, which starts in fall will “dabble in a little of everything” and will also get into more technical aspects of ecommerce.
They will cover more technical programming aspects of the industry, which can be multi-faceted.
Most of legal internet marketing experts are self-taught and started their businesses long before it grew into a large industry. These companies often look for employees who have strong writing skills, internet research experience, web design and a working knowledge of search engine algorithms, but may have difficulty finding qualified employees.
A person who has an ecommerce degree will be attractive to companies or brands looking to develop a visible online presence through social media, mobile marketing and search engine optimization.
