Last night’s American Idol elimination brought four lucky contestants one step closer to the Idol crown and sent one contestant packing. Fan votes put Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine in the bottom two. Cavanagh, who has been a regular in the bottom two, was declared safe and Laine was forced to say goodbye to Idol fans.
After the results show, the 18-year-old told People magazine she was “really relieved” to be out of the competition. “There's no pressure anymore. There's no pressure about songs anymore. I went out on a good note,” Laine said.
"I told Hollie, 'I think you're going to be surprised,’” she added. "She thought she was going to go home. She was in the same place twice before, and she thought it was her time to go home.”
Laine’s departure puts Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez in the top four with Cavanagh.
