Dozens Aboard Continental Airlines Jet Injured Due to Extreme Turbulence

A Continental Airlines jet traveling from Rio de Janeiro to Houston was forced to make an emergency landing in Miami after encountering extreme turbulence that left at least 26 people injured, four of those injuries were considered serious.

 

The Boeing 767 Continental Flight 128 had been traveling at 38,000ft when the jet hit the rough patch about 50 miles north of the Dominican Republic. After the plane began shaking violently the captain made the decision to declare an emergency and headed for Miami.

 

After the emergency landing those passengers with minor injuries were placed on another plane alongside the other passengers and flown to Houston.

 

The four passengers who were said to have suffered serious injuries have been hospitalized with serious neck and back problems.
