The Woodstock 40th Anniversary has arrived. With summer music festivals having become a staple on the event calendar of any lover of the arts, there’s nothing like overcrowding a vehicle, driving long distances, and roughing the climate to liberate individuals and bring them closer together.
The music event that shaped the future of American culture has become the icon for a successful celebration of peace and music. Those who remember the glory of Woodstock 1969 will have a lot to look forward to this summer. Woodstock has not been forgotten, and the summer of love is once again on the horizon.
West Fest – 2b1 Multimedia in association with Artie Kornfeld presents San Francisco’s celebration of Woodstock 1969 called West Fest. Set to be held in Golden Gate Park on October 25, the festival will focus on the roots of the original festival including peace, love, spirituality, music, and art. Featuring beat generation poets, San Francisco artists, speakers and vendors of the Green Movement, free speech and anti-war speakers, and free admission will capture the vibe of the Woodstock 1969. Original Woodstock acts are also set to be announced closer to the date of the event will supply fans with some classic Woodstock tunes.
The Heroes of Woodstock – Gen-X entertainment has put together a striking resemblance of the original Woodstock festival with their Heroes of Woodstock tour. The event will feature the largest number of original Woodstock 1969 acts and participants. The nationwide tour is conveniently set to appear at the Bethel Center for the Arts on August 15 exactly 40 years after the original Woodstock Festival. Watch as Canned Heat, Jefferson Starship, Ten Years After, Melanie, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and Country Joe McDonald revive the spirit of Woodstock in epic fashion.
Woodfest ’09 – 3 days of peace & music comes to Oklahoma for Woodfest ’09. Featuring the most convincing Woodstock cover bands ever assembled including Jimi Hendrix, CSN&Y, and Grateful Dead mimics, the lineup offers an authentic Woodstock 1969 feel. Free camping, free admission for the kids, and an array of food vendors will accommodate festival goers and give Woodstock fans in the South a more conveniently located site for peace and music. The event will take place from August 14-16 in at The Washita Hideaway in Davis, Oklahoma.
A Woodstock Tribute – Peace and music comes to the Midwest at the Galt Airport in McHenry County IL with A Woodstock Tribute. Bands including likenesses of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, CCR, The Grateful Dead, Santana, Joe Cocker, and CSN&Y will offer a convincing rendition of Woodstock 1969 music rain or shine. The event will also feature handcrafted jewelry, camping, and food and drink vendors. Break out your old bandana and check out A Woodstock Tribute on August 14 & 15 located 50 miles NW of Chicago.
