Republican Sen. John McCain to Oppose Confirmation of Supreme Court Nominee Sonia Sotomayor

Republican Senator and former presidential candidate John McCain has said he will oppose the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor.

The Senate is expected to vote on Sotomayor’s confirmation later this week and while she is expected to earn the nomination several Republicans have adamantly opposed her appointment.

McCain has said Sotomayor, who has been supported by President Barack Obama, has used her time as a judge to try and change laws rather than interpret and make rulings based on the laws.
