Tom Cruise set to star in "Lions for Lambs" with Robert Redford

Cruise is set to star in his first movie since his bitter split with Paramount Pictures and Sumner Redstone. The Mission Impossible star will be sharing the spotlight with screen icons Robert Redford and Meryl Streep in Lions for Lambs.

Two weeks ago Cruise and partner Paula Wagner announced the rebirth of United Artists. While it will be Cruise’s first film with UA and the studios first acquisition with Cruise and Wagner at the helm, the studio will not take producer credits. Rather, Cruise and Wagner will be acting as supervising executives.

Lions for Lambs will be directed by Robert Redford who will also star in the picture. Redford will be playing the role of an American professor who has two students in Afghanistan. Cruise plays a U.S. congressman who has to deal with an investigative reporter played by Streep. The three stories are interwoven.

The film reunites Robert Redford and Meryl Streep, both of whom starred in the Oscar-winning Out of Africa in 1985.
