Delaware state legislator charged with second DUI
State lawmaker, Brad Bennett, a House Democrat, is once again facing a drunk driving charge, following an early April arrest.
Police have also charged Bennett with leaving the scene of an accident in Wilmington. According to the police report, a city patrol car was parked on North Market Street, responding to a call. As the officer was getting out of his car, a black SUV side-swiped his vehicle and drove away. The driver continued traveling southbound on Market Street until he was stopped by police on West 57th Street.
The driver was identified as 46 year-old Edward B. Bennett, who goes by Brad, a House legislator representing Dover. Even with political clout, anyone with a DUI needs the help of a Delaware DUI attorney.
Bennett was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, no proof of insurance and not reporting an accident involving alcohol.
Bennett was had a previous DUI from 2011 in Sussex County where he was given one year probation.
